What Day Is Labor Day?

Labor Day is a U.S. holiday observed on the first Monday in September.

What Is Labor Day?

The day celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers. Labor Day is a federal holiday so all non-essential government offices are closed. Many people view it as the last weekend of summer so lots of people head out of town for the long weekend.

It’s also a family time and picnics and family gatherings are a popular thing to do on Labor Day. Fashion observers used to believe that it was not ok to wear white shoes and clothes after Labor Day, although most people don’t do that anymore.
