To Date Night or Not to Date Night: "Even" the Obamas Have Time!

A quote I heard recently on tv really erked me. Although I’m paraphrasing it went along the lines of, “If the Obama’s can get out for a weekly date night, then the rest of us should be able to.”

Ok here’s my issue(s) with that: If I had more disposable money, a helicopter, chauffeur driven limo, secret service, nanny (and Grandma always available if the nanny couldn’t), cook, cleaner and gardener I’m thinking Tim and I would be out on date nights twice a week. I mean seriously!

Please don’t get me wrong I realize that (regardless of political views) we all realize that our President does an awful lot. Crikey, he’s a really busy man but he’s also got the world at his fingertips.

My sponsor, JuiceBox Jungle asked me this week what was stopping us going on date nights. Ya see if it’s about the money then restaurant.com (another fab sponsor) is awesome. I mean you can’t say fairer than a $35 dinner for $12. If you’ve no idea what or whom restaurant.com is, they make eating out on a budget easier. Buy a gift certificate valued at $25 for only $10. Better yet, watch Mummy Deals here and every time they slash the prices of those I’ll let you know. Sometimes the $10 is only $2 so it’s a cheap date night.

I guess for me the problem is babysitters. My parents are in England and my in-laws love watching Isaac but they also have a life! Now, maybe restaurant.com can come up with babysitters.com as I really need a New Year’s Eve sitter. Any takers??

  1. I would so be interested in a babysitting swap group. I am always in need of a cheap sitter. 🙂

  2. Ever consider a swap with another family? You watch their kids for a night, and they watch yours…all for free. A cost effective way of both of you getting out once in awhile!

  3. just wanted to let you know that PePe's Mexican Rest. has alot of coupons on their site pepes.com
and if you sign up for the VIP club you will get coupons emailed to you including free bday dinner free aniversery appitizer, etc
Sundays get a free kids meal with the purchase of a dinner….
right now buy a $25 gift card get a free $5 one and theres a coupon for you to get a $10 one instead…. theres alot
sorry about rambling but I know your in the area so I thought I'd let you know.

  4. Wow-does the date night post strike a nerve with me! I would love to go out more often with my husband, but work for him has been very unstable the past year and a half. I have a wealthy sister-in-law who tells me almost every time I see her that she and her husband go out once a week. Great-but they don't live in the real world!

  5. LOL! I'm in the same boat, with no relatives in the area. I think the babysitter is going to cost more than the actual date.
