Tips and Tricks: Donated Items Make Great Tax Refunds

Waiting until the end of the year is perhaps not the best time to round up all your donated items for a tax refund. Instead here’s a couple of tips on why you should start now and get organized!

1) At the beginning of each new year, make a file for that year’s taxes and then make thrift store donations all year round.

2) Itemize everything, and put the donation receipts in the file.

3) At the end of the year, it is all there for when you do the taxes.

A reader told me she does as good as or maybe better than on our refund from these items than if they had a garage sale!

Thanks Laurie!
