When I received the Blessings Jar book a few weeks ago as a member of the Tommy Nelson Mommies, I was excited to check it out. I love books about getting my kids to think outside of their world and knew this would be a good one.
Alexa Grace is having a bad day, but then Grandma arrives with something special for “Grandma’s Little Punky Grace”—an Ebenezer jar that she thinks is very peculiar. Grandma explains that an Ebenezer is a “stone of help” and represents God’s blessings. Alexa Grace wonders if she can fill the jar with some of God’s blessings.
Instead of a jar I pulled a giant bucket inside and challenged my kids. First I read to them 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
I broke it down into easy words for my kids to understand and wrote them down. I hung them up and we’ll be using those this week as our verses to remember during breakfast. No, I’m not Supermom and don’t do this all the time but Scriptures like this are good to impress on our kid’s hearts so this one is going to get inside them (and I!) I made you a printable http://www.scribd.com/doc/156818382/1-Thessalonians-5-16-Printable-Mummy-Deals so you can use it with your kids too.
Instead of writing about it I decided to film the Blessings Bucket and what happened so you can see this quick video.
The book is awesome and I highly recommend it. You can buy it at Amazon or try win a copy below too! Simply fill out the Rafflecopter.
I blog with integrity: I’m a Tommy Nelson Mommy and was given this book to review but it in NO way impacts my opinion.
