The celebration kicks off with a Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner at the Crown Point Fire Rescue Department, 126 N. East St. from 4-6:30pm. Celebration festivities begin on the historic Crown Point Courthouse Square prior to the parade start at dusk; dinner menu and prices to be announced.
During the dinner, the small bay will serve as the first registered St. Baldrick’s Day venue in Indiana this year. Each participant or “shavee” quests to raise the highest amount of funding possible for life-saving research; while shaving his or her head as a display of solidarity with kids who have cancer; most of whom do not get to choose how to style their hair today. With the support of local stylists and barbers and the “shavees” courageous act, much needed funds will go to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancer and give survivors long healthy lives.
The parade will commence during snow, rain or shine and stage at Solon Robinson School before it proceeds to Wells, then to Main Street, North and around the Historic Downtown Square to Court Street and out to Walnut.
