Slow Cooker Mondays: April’s Hot Spiced Cider

Well Hello Fall! Today is a cool crisp day in Chicagoland and it made me think of my friend April’s awesome recipe for Wassail or Hot Spiced Cider. I know that if I sung the wassailing song she’d make me some so here goes (complete with English accent for you April!)

Here we come a-wassailing
Among the leaves so green,
Here we come a-wand’ring
So fair to be seen.
Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail, too,
And God bless you, and send you
A Happy New Year,
And God send you a Happy New Year.

Here’s the recipe:

  • 1 gallon cider
  • 6o frozen orange juice
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 6oz frozen lemonade
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 6 whole allspice
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 orange sliced

  1. Place all into 6 quart slow cooker.
  2. Garnish with orange slices.
  3. Will keep warm in crock pot on low setting.
