I made Slow Cooker Caramel.
Slow Cooker Caramel is only one ingredient and easy to make. Make crock pot caramel and use it on ice cream, as a cake filler and anywhere else you’d normally use caramel.
I saw that people were popping cans of sweetened condensed milk into water, heating it up and producing caramel. My Mother in Law even told me that she’d done it a few times. Then…on Pinterest….I saw it could be done in the crock pot and I knew I had to try. There’s a few safety factors you should consider before you get shards of glass and caramel all over your kitchen and this is the main one:
- SUBMERGE the can in the crockpot. Not just a little water but fill that pot wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy up.
- To ensure I didn’t get a lot of steam and overheat it I added a toothpick under the lid.
- I added foil to the bottom of my crock pot so the can wouldn’t rust it.
If you don’t have sweeetened condensed milk at home, it’s super simple to make and Farmer’s Wife Rambles has a super easy how to make your own Sweetened Condensed Milk post.
