Operation Christmas Child Homemade Purse

Each month we’re taking something different to fill our Operation Christmas Child sheoboxes and this month is homemade goodies. My friend, Mel, came up with 2 awesome items for us to make with instructions so if you’re crafty, please get making ready for our party!

Materials:

Scrap Yarn

Size J Crochet Hook (Gage is not crucial in this project)

And a button

Abbreviations:

Ch. = Chain

St. = Stitch

Sc = Single Crochet

Dc = Double Crochet

Sl St = Slip Stitch

FO = Finish Off

Body of Purse:

Ch. 21

Row 1: Sc in 2nd st from the hook, sc in each st till end, ch 1, turn (20 stitches)

Row 2-39: Sc in each st till end, ch 1, turn (20 stitches)

Row 40: (Skip next st, dc 4 in next st, skip next st, sl st in next) twice, skip next st, dc 2 in next st, ch 2 *to create a button hole*, dc 2 in same st, skip next st, sl st in next, (Skip next st, dc 4 in next st, skip next st, sl st in next) twice, FO

Handle:

Ch. 5

Row 1: Sc in 2nd st from the hood, sc in each st till end, ch 1, turn (4 stitches)

Row 2-54: Sc in each st til end, ch 1, turn

Do not finish off.

Assemble:

Using a slip stitch, sew handle to body of purse. Allow for 12 rows for front and back and 4 rows for bottom. Weave in yarn ends and sew on button.
