My One Hundred Thousand Dollars a Year Day Job

It’s a tough job but somebody’s got to do it. Sure we’ve all heard the stats that to pay someone to do the things a Mum does would mean over $100K per year in salary For some reason it doesn’t make me feel any better. What makes me feel better is this:

Yup.  That little guy can melt my heart and crack me up.  This was last week, right before he decided he’d eat a little snow.  Apparantly I don’t feed him enough!  Fortunately for me the first time he got sick was at 23 months and he’s been a really healthy kid so I haven’t missed out on much yet.  Sure there’s the girls nights I wish I could attend but otherwise we’re good.

What about you: What have you missed out on due to playing the #1 role mom’s play: NURSE?  Has there ever been a time, when you’ve missed something you wanted or “had” to do, due to your kids’ unexpected health issues. Veteran Parents: Is there anything you know now  which could have prepared you better for the onslaught of germs and role of nurse?

  1. This is a great reason for stay-at-home moms to have term life insurance and this reminds me that I need to get it. DH would have to pay for full time extended day-care or a nanny, plus cleaning services, etc. if I was not here. Sad to think about, but true. Also I think for the duration of potty training, we should get bonus salary 🙂 LOL!
