The Mountain Dew Cupcake Recipe
Mountain Dew isn’t my favorite soda for sure but these Mountain Dew cupcakes were my favorite out of all the Soda Pop Cupcakes I made and the Mountain Dew Cupcake Recipe is an easy one that tastes very lemony. I figured we had to do a mix of lemon and lime and they came out super yummy and made the plate of cupcakes look pretty too!

Ingredients
- Lemon cake mix
- 12oz can of Mountain Dew
- 1 TBS lime rind
- 1# powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 3/4 cup of shortening
- 1 TBS lemon juice
- 1 TBS lime juice
- 2 TBS of Mountain Dew (add more if needed)
- Drop of green food coloring
- Lemon candy for decoration
Instructions
- Mix the Mountain Dew into the cake mix and stir well.
- Add the lime rind and mix.
- Bake as per box instructions.
- While the cupcakes are cooling mix the frosting and add the food coloring to make a light green color.
- Frost the cupcakes and add a lemon candy (I used lemonheads) as a decoration.

I never would have thought to use Mountain Dew in cupcake! I bet the carbonation made the cupcakes a little lighter!

Did you use a cake mix that required only adding water, or one that requires oil, eggs and water? Thanks!
I used one that would normally take eggs and oil and water but just added the Dew instead.
How much powdered sugar do I use? It just says “1#.”
One pound. I know it’s a ton!
