How to Curb The Anxiety of Providing for Your Family: A Guest Post

What if I told you that you didn’t have to worry about what your family was going to wear or going to eat? I know I would love that. So much of what I do as a mom is wrapped up in clothing my children and ensuring that they have food in their little bellies. I feel like these are some of my primary roles as their mother and their protector. Thankfully, I don’t have to worry about these things alone.

God cares about His creation and He makes us a promise. In the Bible in Matthew 6 God says that we are more valuable than the birds of the air and the lilies of the field. He says if He feeds the birds of the air and clothes the lilies of the field that are gone tomorrow, how much more valuable are we? Sometimes it is hard to believe that God cares about the little things in our lives. He really does care and He wants to help us moms take care of our families.

He continues on in Matthew 6 to give us a promise in verse 33, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.” The trick is that we have to seek first Him first and trust that He will provide. Then “all these things” such as clothing and food will be given to you.

This can be hard to practically walk out everyday. As humans we like the tangible and we like a plan. Trusting that God will provide seems like an impractical plan.

There have been many times that I have prayed for God’s provision and He has provided. Just last night my husband and I had a budget meeting and prayed together for His provision. Today God brought my husband a new client and some practical provision for our family as well.

I went grocery shopping today. I came in right under budget, but I didn’t buy any diapers even though I knew I was going to run out of diapers soon. (We have 2 children in diapers.) This afternoon a friend came by my house to drop off a gift to us. He had been given a surprise baby shower at work and received over 5,000 diapers. He came by my house to share his abundance. His truck was overflowing with diapers onto the dashboard, in the bed of the truck, and in the back seat. It was certainly a sight! I thankfully took 4 mega packs of diapers. God provided for my family today and not to mention my friend’s family!

God cares about us. I challenge you to take God up on His offer. Seek Him out and ask Him for help. He is happy to help!

How about you? Have you ever seen God provide for your family?
