Homemade Swiffer WetJet Solution

Homemade Swiffer WetJet Solution

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE my Swiffer WetJet but I don’t love expensive refills which is why this week I made a Homemade Swiffer WetJet Solution. In honor of Earth Day I’m trying to blog some of my greener recipes so here’s an awesome one for you. As vinegar is a little stinky, it’s a good idea to add some essential oils to help make it smell fresher. Adding oils to my WetJet solution not only made it smell good but it also works as a great natural cleaner. I recommend the Young Living brand and you can buy it here. You’ll also find Thieves is an awesome oil to help disinfect and is a great one to add to your arsenal of natural living!

WetJet HACK: Can’t get the top of the WetJet? Thank goodness for Pinterest advice right?! Simply put your bottle in a cup of hot water so that the cap is covered for a few minutes. Bring it out and twist the top off! Ta-da! Either that or cut into the top of it to add the homemade solution.

Note: Lemon oil can eat through plastic if left for a long time so make a small batch at a time if using the oils.

Adding alcohol to the cleaner helps with the streak-free shine which can be leftover with some cleaning recipes.  I’ve used this on our tile and laminate but wouldn’t recommend it on natural wood as vinegar will dull the shine.

Homemade Swiffer WetJet Solution Materials

1 cup of water
1 cup of vinegar
1 cup of rubbing alcohol
3 drops of castille soap. I like Dr. Bronn’s
5 drops of lemon or thieves essential oils…or both! Thieves is great on germs.

Simply mix together in a bowl and then pour into your wetjet bottle using a funnel. Clean away!

What Oils Do You Use

I only recommend Young Living oils as they’re a therapeutic grade pure oil that you can buy here.
