Homemade Lei Necklace

Homemade Lei Craft

This homemade lei necklace is great for kids or Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. We made a homemade lei craft to send to other children. Perfect for parties and other celebrations and your kids can make them too.

How to make a Lei

I’m always on the lookout for new crafts to add to my Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes and recently I came across some silk flowers at a garage sale and thought of a homemade lei necklace. Super cheap, super fun and your kiddos can make them so why not turn it into a summer project? These would also be fun for a backyard bbq or Hawaii party.

  • Yarn - about 2 feet per necklace
  • Straws cut into 1 inch length. About 5 straws per necklace.
  • Silk flowers that you can either hole punch or come pre-punched.

  1. Start by tying a knot in the end of one piece of yarn.
  2. Start threading the flowers and straws on, alternating.
  3. Once you've finished, tie both ends together to form a necklace.
  4. That's it! Easy peasy right?
