Homemade Garlic Bread for Around $1/Loaf

Homemade Garlic Bread

I ran into Target recently and grabbed some garlic bread along with a couple of other things. One loaf of garlic bread? $1.79! As I’m trying not to eat white bread (and who knows what else is in store bought garlic bread) then I decided to make some. Last week I told you about the hot tip about Jimmy John’s day old bread costing just 49 cents. Well this week I’m here to tell you it makes great garlic bread to freeze. Buy a couple of extra loaves next time you’re in and make some garlic bread. This costs less than $1 and is a bigger loaf.

I started with soft margarine but butter would be great too. Add in as much pressed or dried garlic as you like. We like a lot so I added a couple of tablespoons. For one loaf I kept as just garlic bread but for the other I tossed caution to th wind and added dried parmesan too!

Mix well in a bowl then spread on the inside of the bread.

Place the two side together and wrap in plastic wrap. Store in freezer for up to 3 months.

You can also use the day old bread to make croutons!
