Grilled Peaches and Clean Eating Caramel
This week I was tasked with the fun job of heading to Mariano’s and getting ingredients to make Grilled Peaches for summer. Although I’ve cooked other fruits on the grill as a snack I’ve never tried peaches and I wanted to create something else besides just the peach. We’ve been clean eating since January so I wanted to try something with coconut milk and saw a recipe for coconut milk caramel that I just had to try! Coconut milk has pretty much become a staple of ours since doing more unprocessed foods and I knew it would taste delicious on those peaches. So on the 3rd of July I headed to a VERY packed Mariano’s in Frankfort, IL to grab some supplies.
The minute we walked through the door at #MyMarianos we saw a huge display of amazing looking fresh peaches and at just $0.99 per pound they fit into my budget of trying to get fruits and vegetables for $1.50 per pound or less. I let Isaac (5) put some in a bag and we kept going.
This isn’t my first time at Mariano’s but I do know why this place was so packed and everyone is talking about it. Even my Husband said that he’s heard DJs on the radio raving about it in Chicago! I love the fresh feeling, healthy-living picks and the neighborhood feel of the place. It’s lots of little farmer’s market stalls under one roof with convenient cafe seating to enjoy all those yummy summer products.
There were lots of tables dotted around the place for you to stop a while so we enjoyed a sample at one.
Another thing I appreciate as a Mum is the way the store is set up and geared to help you make healthy choices. Instead of a bunch of candy at the end-cap near the register we were greeted with some healthy snacks for those impulse buy moments!
And now for those recipes I mentioned. If you’ve never tried Grilled Peaches you’re in for a treat!
Clean Eating Caramel
Clean Eating Caramel Review
Sometimes the clean eating recipes don’t taste quite as good as the ones filled with yuckies and this recipe is kinda like that! I wasn’t a huge fan of it on it’s own but once on the peaches it tasted delicious. No joke! If you’re trying to eat clean (as we are) then it’s worth the switch from the processed-laden ingredients in your regular caramel sauce. The funny thing was that as fussy as my Husband is on being told it was caramel he tried it and enjoyed it so I highly recommend giving it a go and let me know what you think 🙂
