Every Party Needs a Famous Face – Interview with Nancy Loo

I’ve always really enjoyed watching Nancy Loo on Fox News Chicago so I was thrilled when she agreed to an interview. She’s super personable and just a great gal. Here’s what we talked about:

How many kids do you have?
2, boy and girl (very blessed)
What’s your funniest kid’s story?
As a toddler, my son thought I went to work “in” the TV. He would tap on the screen and try to climb in, too!
Ever had a “Mummy Brain” moment?
Of course! During my first maternity leave, I threw away a lot of good silverware while cleaning off plates for the dishwasher!
I heard you went into labour on air, what happened?
I was 2 weeks from my due date so I went to work and then began feeling the contractions. But I thought they were just Braxton-Hicks. While the newscast went on, I realized they were real contractions and fairly regular. Luckily, they hit during commercial breaks and taped reports. It became quite a running gag by the middle of the show, though. I got through the newscast and my daughter waited several more hours before arriving. We earned an Emmy award for that newscast so we often joke about my daughter’s Emmy-award winning arrival!
Do you have any money-saving tips that you use?
I always look for what’s on sale when going through the supermarket aisles. I also enjoy the convenience of the savings cards at Jewel and Dominick’s. I wish I had more time to organize and use coupons more strategically.
If you could be stuck in an elevator with 3 people (dead or alive) who would they be?
Abraham Lincoln, Ghandi and Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy
If you weren’t an anchorwoman, what would you like to do?
What do you like about Chicago?
A beautiful city with incredible, diverse people!
You were born in Hong Kong, do you miss it?
Yes. I haven’t been back in 3 years.
Give us a Chicago insider tip:
Whenever you’re near Chinatown, stop into one of the bakeries along Wentworth for tasty and cheap goodies. My favorite is the BBQ Roast Pork Buns – 75 cents!

Thanks, Nancy, it was good getting to know the person behind the tv!!
