English Recipe Corner: Toad in the Hole = Dinner for $1!


Toad in the Hole is delicious and incredibly cheap. Ok, so it isn’t that nutritious but I bet it costs me no more than $1 to make it and Hubs loves it.

Ingredients

4OZ PLAIN FLOUR
QUARTER TEASPOON SALT
1 EGG
HALF TEASPOON MILK
2 TBS OIL
HALF A POUND OF SAUSAGES (NOT BRATS OR HOTDOGS – I USED LINKS)

1. Turn oven on to 425 F
2. Cut sausages in half
3. Put the vegetable oil in a metal pan (like a brownie pan), add the sausages and cook for 10 minutes
4. Mix the other ingredients together and pour batter over partly cooked sausages and cook for a further 30 minutes
4. Serve with hot gravy and vegetables
