English Recipe Corner – Cheese Scones


CHEESE SCONES

4 OZ FLOUR
THREE QUARTER OZ BUTTER
1 TEASP SUGAR
HALF TEAS CREAM TARTAR
QUARTER TEASP BICARB OF SODA
3 OZS GRATED CHEESE
SMALL AMOUNT OF MILK

  1. Mix flour and butter and add cream of tartar and bicarb
  2. Add sugar
  3. Add most of cheese
  4. Gradually add a little milk until mixture is moist but able to roll
  5. Roll out keeping pastry quite thick
  6. Cut out circles and put on floured baking tray
  7. Brush with milk and add a few sprinkles of cheese on top
  8. Bake in oven at 450 degrees or gas 8 for 10 mins
  9. Cool on wired tray
