A while ago my friend April sent me her Crock Pot Spiced Cider Recipe that she loves making for parties. As it’s that time of year when many of you are looking for entertaining recipes I thought I’d share her recipe again….with a twist! This is an awesome recipe for Wassail or Hot Spiced Cider.
I know that if I sung the wassailing song she’d make me some so here goes (complete with English accent for you April!)
Here we come a-wassailing
Among the leaves so green,
Here we come a-wand’ring
So fair to be seen.
Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail, too,
And God bless you, and send you
A Happy New Year,
And God send you a Happy New Year.
Crock Pot Spiced Cider Recipe
- 1 gallon cider
- 6o frozen orange juice
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 6oz frozen lemonade
- 6 whole cloves
- 6 whole allspice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 orange sliced
- Place all into 6 quart slow cooker.
- Garnish with orange slices.
- Will keep warm in crock pot on low setting.
After making it, gather some apples together and hollow them out by cutting off the top and then scooping out. Brush lemon juice in there to ensure they don’t brown. Serve in the apple cups and add a cinnamon stick for decoration!
