My Husband loves a good Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich so I figured I’d give it a whirl in my trusty slow cooker and made a Crock Pot Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. As my family were suitably impressed I thought I’d share as it’s Slow Cooker Monday and this is a great family recipe: Eg I tested it on mine and they enjoyed it!

It’s just a few simple ingredients and I bet you have most of them on hand.  I rubbed the steak with my Homemade Steak Seasoning recipe and that really brought the flavor out and then I cooked it on low.

Crock Pot Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich

  • 2# or more of sandwich steak. I used about 3 large pieces for our family of 4.
  • Steak seasoning or meat rub
  • One onion, sliced into strips
  • Green pepper cut into strips
  • 8 slices of Provolone
  • Buns

  1. Spray your crock pot with butter/olive oil spray
  2. Rub the steak with the seasoning
  3. Place the vegetables on the bottom.
  4. Place the steak pieces on top
  5. Cover and cook on low for 5 hours or high for 2.5.
  6. Remove the lid during the last 15 minutes and add a few slices of cheese to let it melt.
  7. Serve with buns and more cheese.

  1. Lisa Clark says:

What kind of meat did you use for your crockpot philly cheese steak sandwiches? It says sandwich steak on your post but I’ve never heard of that? What is that specifically? I am excited about this recipe and look forward to trying it!!

    • It’s just a thin type of steak Lisa. If your store doesn’t has that then maybe a skirt steak? You don’t want it super expensive either 🙂 Cheap meat tastes great in the crock pot! Enjoy, my family did!

  2. What liquid do you use or does it make it’s own juices.

  3. did you cut up your meat first or put it in the crock pot in whole slices to cook?

    • I just add whole slices and then chop after it comes out as needed. By then it just falls apart….all ooey gooey with cheese!

  4. Hi do you put the meat in frozen or does it have to defrost first?
