It’s that time of year to grab a blanket and a movie and snuggle on the couch. What better way than with some good ole comfort food: soup. I thought I’d share some reader’s fave recipes over the next few days. If you’ve got a recipe you love, email me at mummydeals at yahoo.
This is Mama Boone’s recipe.
Here is a favorite of mine. Serve it with a sandwich or warm fresh, homemade bread! When you see a sale on the broccoli or cauliflower, chop it up, measure it, and freeze it for later use.
- 6 cups water
- 9-12 teaspoons chicken bouillion
- 1 medium onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 8 cups broccoli or cauliflower
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon thyme, optional
Bring the above to a boil and boil for 10 minutes or more.
1 stick margarine
Then stirring until there are no lumps mix:
½ – 1 cup flour
1 quart milk
Add milk and flour mixture to soup. Stir and cook until thickened. Makes a large pot!
