How to clean your mattress naturally
Every once in a while I gather some energy and complete a once a year project. Ya know the kind. The ones like cleaning the top of your fridge or taking down the curtains and washing them.
Sure it’s probably something that should be completed on a more regular basis but when you’ve got two little boys running around it’s all I can do to keep them from wrestling each other and keep their bellies full. As my kids eat about every hour (and we’re not talking grazing here) it’s a miracle I can do anything else apart from feed them.
Anyway….while in one of my energy modes I decided to tackle a gross project: cleaning our mattress. It was high time we rotated it and so after Hubs and done that I tackled the airing it out project.
Baking soda is so useful for cleaning projects and is pretty much all you need to Clean a Mattress but as it’s fun to have a fresh smell after cleaning something I also opted for Peppermint Essential Oil. Sure lavender may have smelt better but seeing as the mint was all I had, it’s what I went with! It also helps deodorize. The baking soda helps kill any little buggies and freshens your mattress.
How to Clean Your Mattress
- Simply take about a cup of baking soda and add into a bowl.
- Drop a couple of drops of essential oils in there and stir.
- Sprinkle your bed with it and let it sit for an hour.
- Vacuum it up.
Voila, you’ve just completed a once a year project! Now go have a cuppa tea and put your feet up 🙂
