Clean Eating Crock Pot Brownies

This week I’m trying out a bunch of new recipes and when I saw Clean Eating Crock Pot Brownies on The Gracious Pantry, I knew I had to try them out.

Now why in the world would one make brownies in the crock pot and not the oven or microwave? Well, to save space or cut down on heating When it’s the middle of summer I don’t want my oven on but I ain’t giving up my chocolate so this is convenient. Plus, although it takes a while to bake they’re not hard to make and it can be a space saver if your oven is full of dinner. Dessert in the crock pot? Sign me up!

Clean Eating Crock Pot Brownies Ingredients – makes 16 small squares

  • 1/2 cup of whole wheat real wheat flour (I like Bob’s Red Mills)
  • 1/4 cup of cocoa
  • 3/4 t. baking powder
  • 1/3 c. applesauce
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 2 egg whites
  • 3 oz melted dark chocolate
  • 1/2 T coconut oil

Clean Eating Brownies Directions

  1. Mix the first three ingredients.
  2. Melt the chocolate square and add the coconut oil.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the chocolate mix and then gradually pour in the flour mix.
  4. Line the bottom of a crock pot with parchment paper and grease with coconut oil.
  5. Pour the brownie mix in and cook on low for 3 hours.
  6. Test after 3 hours and cook for longer if needed.

I’m not gonna lie: They weren’t my fave but………..
So, why are they here on your blog? Because they weren’t disgusting and a total fail but I’m used to the full fat, fully processed junk. My family has made the decision to eat unprocessed foods in the main and these fall under that. If you’re like me and need to or want to ditch processed junk, then these clean eating crock pot brownies are for you {and me!}  Plus ya know what, they rocked with some coconut milk and honey on top!! That’s the way to eat these babies and fix that sweet tooth 😉
