Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co. Review

Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co. Review

My Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co. Review  is a sponsored post on behalf of the Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co. However all the opinions remain my own.

There’s something to be said about Chicago in the summer. In fact it almost makes up for the 4+ months we get of cold weather and grey skies. Almost. There’s nothing like a stroll down Michigan Avenue, a Kombucha on tap from a cafe on the Riverwalk or gazing up at the John Hancock when it’s a beautiful day and the sun is glistening of Lake Michigan. The small problem with seeing the city in the summer is the heat. Don’t get me wrong, I love the 4 seasons we get here but with 3 mini humans in tow seeing the city is very different than 10 years ago seeing it with Hubs.

“What do you mean the idea of strolling around and stopping at cafes to sip coffee doesn’t appeal to you?” I asked my children more than once.

That’s when it’s great to have respite from the heat and still be able to see the beautiful city with the littles in tow.

Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co. is in full throws of it’s summer season right now, featuring four distinct tours highlighting the best sites Chicago has to offer and this week we hopped on for a ride to beat the heat.

Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co. Review 1

Our tour guide, Kent, was super knowledgeable and even though I’ve lived here 18 years I learned some things I had no clue about like Oprah’s fave pizza place (Paisano’s really? Really? Over Lou Malnati’s??!) I digress……

We hopped on at Michigan Avenue and headed down the Magnificent Mile, taking in all the sites while the kids munched on lunch from a food truck. I used to be the kind of girl that loved seeing a city on foot, breathing in the aromas and taking it all in. But with kids this Mama is all about convenience and that’s why I loved the tour.

With ticket options ranging from one to three days, every ticket includes Chicago Trolley’s iconic Downtown Tour, complete with 13 Hop-on Hop-off stops throughout downtown Chicago and River North, the Wrigley Field/Lincoln Park Zoo Route, the
Museum of Science & Industry/Chinatown Route and the Night Tour. For those wanting to experience Chicago by water, Chicago Trolley also offers the Land, Lake and River Package combining the best of the Downtown Tour together with Mercury Skyline Cruises boat tour. Grab tickets here online or in-person at a Chicago Trolley kiosk at any of the stops. You can also access a multi-lingual app from your cellphone and see a bus tracker, where you can track the nearest bus.

Thanks for this review!! My husband and I are making lists of where to go with our boys, and his list has Chicago near the top! The Land, Lake, and River package looks like it would be really great. Our first stop will be Indy, followed by St. Louis, but we’ll add all these tips to our Chicago list!!
