Using oils for beauty products dates back centuries to the Egyptians and more. They have such great health properties but as far as your skin goes, being your largest organ, you can make great strides towards its health by applying oils to it.

Be sure you are using a pure oil and not one that has been doctored with perfumes. If it says it is not safe for anything but aromatherapy, don’t use it on your skin. You truly shouldn’t use it at all, since breathing it in takes it directly to your brain and lungs, but please don’t put one of those oils on your skin.

Some of the top oils for skin and beauty are: Frankincense, Geranium, Lavender, Myrrh, Jasmine, any citrus, Cypress, Rosemary and Melaleuca.  Here are 5 easy beauty recipes using essential oils for you to make your own fun beauty items for a minimal cost and small time investment.

Beachy Salt Water Hair Spray

This spray creates that “just been at the beach” look. You will need a spray bottle made of either glass or stainless steel. Then add the following:

1 cup hot water

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp hair gel

1 tsp fractionated coconut oil

6 drops lavender essential oil

4 drops rosemary essential oil

Now, mix those well, spray onto hair and scrunch it into style.

Eye Makeup Remover Roller

This eye makeup remover works wonderfully without the wet mess and without getting too much out of the bottle or getting it in your eyes. Using a roller bottle makes it so easy to use.

Use a 10 ml. size roller top bottle and add in the following:

4 drops frankincense

5 drops geranium

5 drops lavender

And then top off with fractionated coconut oil, stopping at the point where the bottle shape goes to the lidded area and where the roller top pops down in. Otherwise when you put the top in it will overflow out and make a mess.

Be sure when you push the roller ball in to get it to click down so that there is no space between it and the glass bottle, otherwise it will leak.

To use: Roll onto a cotton ball and then over closed eye, wiping makeup off carefully.

Nail Brightener

This is an easy and fast beauty tip that really works: Take a drop of your favorite all natural whitening toothpaste and add in a drop of melaleuca. Mix together using a toothpick or q-tip and apply to nails. Use like a polish and it will help brighten up your nails.

Manicure Hand Soak

This is part one of a two-step manicure recipe set. Either can be used individually and you could even incorporate the nail brightener of #3 in to it too, if you’d like.

Lavender and Frankincense hand soak – You will need a small tub or container to put your hands down in, and fill it with 5 cups of warm to hot temperature water. Next, add in ½ cup Epsom salt, 5 drops lavender essential oil and 6 drops frankincense essential oil. Get comfy as you can and soak your hands in the water until it has been 15 minutes or the water is all cooled.

Sea salt & Sugar Scrub

This scrub can truly be used on other body parts and is not just for hands. Use it on knees, elbows, feet: anywhere you have a rough or dry patch, but it works wonderfully on the hands, especially after the soaking has softened and prepped them.

Use an 8 oz. glass jar with lid for storage.

Now mix and measure in bowl: 4 oz. himalayan or your preferred sea salt

4 oz. white sugar

3 tbsp. sweet almond or jojoba oil (extra virgin olive oil works well too)

4 drops peppermint essential oil

5 drops lavender essential oil

3 drops frankincense essential oil

Once mixed well, add into your jar and add a cute label.

To use: take a few fingers full of the scrub and rub on to area you are treating. All over hands, and elbows is perfect. Then wet hands and rub in some more, gently, but until the sugar and salt breaks down, and then rinse off. Feel how soft and smooth your skin is. This exfoliates and moisturizes at the same time.
