Why All Natural Crock Pot Strawberry Jam

It’s strawberry season and last week me and the kiddos went with a dear friend strawberry picking. We had heard of a farm that had organic strawberries for just $1 a pound if you picked them. $1 a pound?! This frugal girl was giddy! We both walked away with about 11 pounds and after I froze a bunch of them for smoothies I put some in the fridge to nibble on but then I realized: I’d never made strawberry jam and it was time to try.

Here’s the problem: jams have tons of sugar. As in tons of white sugar and as that’s a thing we’re really trying to avoid around here I decided to search a little further for a natural recipe. I found one and although they made it on the stove I made it in the crock pot last week.

All Natural Crock Pot Strawberry Jam Review

Usually I try recipes before I blog them but this time was unusual so i promised I’d update this post. Let’s just say that the combination of strawberries, honey and lemon has found me sneaking in the fridge with a spoon when the kids aren’t looking! I’m not lying when I say this is the best jam I’ve had and I don’t think it’s just in my head because it’s all natural!

It does thicken nicely after a few hours in the fridge eliminating the need for pectin in favor of the apples. I will definitely be making this again and canning some for the winter.

  1. How does it taste?
    Did it thicken up properly?
    Would you make it again?

  2. I can’t seem to find the recipe for the Strawberry Jam. I would love to have it. If you could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Thanks…

    • Sorry Katie, you must have hit this when the recipe was down! It’s good again! Can you see me now???!!!

  3. I if you make larger batches could you then freeze the jam in the jars?

  4. How long does the jam keep in the fridge?

    • About 2-3 weeks. Remember there are no nasty ingredients in there so it won’t keep as long as store bought jam! But it’s oh so yummy!

  5. Judy White says:

How much does this make? It sounds delicious!
