Do you really have to pay to call 411 or is it better to do it online? When the yellow book hits my doorstep every year I wonder who looks at it anymore as I always hit the computer first. I went and searched and found that although many places offering free 411 services cropped up over the past decade many have fizzled out. Here’s the ones that are still around:
Call 1800-FREE411 to grab the information you need. Their site includes reverse phone lookup. As it’s automated they have tips for using it:-
1) Clear lines: If you are calling from a phone where there is a lot of surrounding noise that noise may interfere with what the system hears.
2) Clear Speech: If the system doesn’t recognize your request the first time, don’t slow down your pronunciation or over-enunciate your request.
3) Clear Request: The business name you request should be as close to the full name as possible. For example, if you request “Domino’s” and not “Domino’s Pizza” we may return “Domino’s Construction” and “Domino’s Pizza”.
