I am so grateful to be a part of a country that supports veterans and acknowledges their sacrifice. I for one am deeply indebted to the amazing men and women who serve our country and sacrifice so much and love that we honor them on Veteran’s Day. Here are a couple of ways you can join me.
1) Thank a Veteran with a card. In our technology-focused world we rarely take time out to write some snail mail and yet it costs so little. The gentleman opposite is a vet and each year I try and remember to send him a card just to say thanks. It’s a small gesture but it goes a long way.
2) Fly the flag. It may seem silly but flying the flag is a patriotic act that shows our veterans we care.
3) Shop at stores that support veterans like Dollar General.
On 11/11/11 the Dollar General is thanking all veterans by giving a 10% discount to Veterans, Active Military and their families available in store on Saturday 11/11/11. How cool is that? Better yet, no coupon is needed for the Dollar General’s Veteran’s Day discount. The discount is available for everyone by shopping online on that date and using code ‘VETERANSDAY’ at checkout.
If you go in store you can send a care package to the troop of your choice. Dollar General will be offering a $20 & $30 option for servicemen and women separately and will shp it for you after your purchase.
