3 Easy Pretzel Cookies

Easy Pretzel Cookies

It’s that time of year where you want to make cookies and your kids want to help and these easy pretzel cookies are the perfect thing! Normally I try and do my baking while Tim is home so that I can get it done quickly. But ya know what? My kiddos want to help and in an effort to be a little bit less controlling (read my post here on Why I’d have Made a Terrible Mary!) I decided to pick a project that they could help with and these little bites are perfect!

Easy Pretzel Cookies

When oh when will Hershey’s learn that we all have to rip off their beautiful wrappers to do our holiday baking? We don’t need them in pretty wrappers Hershey’s: we need them wrapperless! Before I start a petition and campaign here let me say that little helpers are super helpful for this as long as you’re willing to hand over some candy. I LOVE that Chase doesn’t even try sneak it but just takes it while he’s working!

Rolo Pretzels

1) Rolo Pretzels

These are a fun treat and you can also add a nut to them to make them like a turtle!

Simply take round pretzels (usually tricky to find each year but I find our local Jewel is the best bet) and some Rolos.

Add the Rolos to the circles and bake at 200 for about 5 minutes until chocolate is melted. If you’re adding a nut remove and do that.

Remove and cool.

Pretzel M&M's

2) Pretzel M&M’s Bites

Take round pretzels, Hershey kisses and some red and green M&Ms.

Add the kisses to the circles and bake at 250 for about 5 minutes until chocolate is melted. Press the M&M into the cookie bite.

Bake for another minute.

Remove and cool.

Caramel Nut.

3) Caramel Nutty Pretzels

If you like caramels grab a bag of Werther’s Baking Caramels, some round pretzels and walnuts.

Add the kisses to the circles and bake at 250 for about 5 minutes until caramel is melted. Press the nut into the cookie bite.

Bake for another minute.

Remove and cool.

Not only do these easy pretzel cookies look great on a cookie tray but your kids can help you make them and enjoy it!

Notes on the easy pretzel cookies:

  1. To “help” them set (eg we wanted to eat them!) I added them to the freezer for 10 minutes.
  2. The great thing about these is you could put them in a freezer zip tight bag and put in your freezer until needed.
  3. There are so many variations of these around my neck of the woods so get creative and jazz yours up whichever way you choose with nuts and chocolate!
