Now onto this the Valentine’s Day challenge: 14 Days of loving Your Man.
Great marriages are not born overnight. You don’t simply walk down the aisle, head on honeymoon and come home to 50 years of wedded bliss. The first thing to realize about a great marriage is that you’re both human, both make mistakes and both need grace.
Tim and I agreed early on that whatever happened we would always be on the same team. In fact some times it’s felt like us against the world as we’ve tackled difficult stuff, 3 years in Thailand as missionaries and then……….kids. After 9 years of marriage (s-weet!) we added kids and got a wake up call. Marriage is work and it takes effort.
In fact here’s what the Bible says about love. It’s a toughie “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.” ~ The Holy Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:4-6
One way to encourage your spouse is through love notes and what better time than the first two weeks of February. I encourage you to head to the store now, buy the supplies and make them up and then leave the notes around. 14 Days of Loving Your Man. It’s gotta be intentional and with a plan.
“There is no more lovely, friendly or charming relationship, communion or company, that a good marriage.” ~ Martin Luther
While I realize candy bars won’t solve huge marital problems, they will help you appreciate your spouse more and feel more appreciated in the meantime. On that note: I wanna also highly recommend the movie Fireproof. It is a great watch!
So, who’s joining me in leaving love messages for their special one? These would also be fun to leave your children!

“According to the Bible, the marriage act is more than a physical act. It is an act of sharing. It is an act of communion. It is an act of total self-giving wherein the husband gives himself completely to the wife, and the wife gives herself to the husband in such a way that the two actually become one flesh.” ~ Wayne Mack
